How long can you operate this shredder?
The answer is 24 hours a day/7 days a week. So why doesn't the motor overheat? The motor has thermal overloads and has what is called catastrophic protection. When heat in a motors build up the current the motor draws will also rise proportionate to heat rise. The catastrophic protection is a current sensing device which will shut the machine down. If something foreign gets in the shredder, the over-current (catastrophic) device will shut the machine down not allowing the motor to overheat. This is a situation called locked rotor.
